Michel J. DeBottis' litigation practice provides formidable courtroom skills to plaintiffs and defendants in business, commercial, contract, corporate, personal injury and real estate disputes in state trial courts and on appeal. Mr. DeBottis advocates clients' claims and defenses in administrative proceedings, municipal hearings, family court hearings, as well as in general practice areas, such as Vehicle and Traffic Law and DWI violations and some criminal matters.
Michel DeBottis focuses on civil litigation, including but not limited to business, commercial and real estate related litigation, breach of contract matters, personal injury and wrongful death
matters. When possible, Michel tries to keep his clients out of court by negotiating satisfactory settlement agreements or winning motions in court that dispose of the case. But, if it is necessary to go to court, our clients appreciate Mr. DeBottis' experience; not only as a litigator and trial lawyer, but also his broad understanding of the many areas of law that impact their cases.
In commercial litigation matters, Mr. DeBottis' experience as a business lawyer provides the skills and experience to present complex commercial disputes to judges and juries. These litigation matters typically involve contracts, leases, partnerships and shareholder agreements, non-competition and confidentiality agreements and transactions governed by the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
Mr. DeBottis has extensive experience in real estate litigations, such as contract matters, foreclosure, mortgage and property tax foreclosure defense, fraud in the inducement of sale of real estate, real estate valuation and assessment and construction disputes by and against contractors.

In matters which proceed to litigation, Mr. DeBottis regularly handles all aspects of litigation. He drafts pleadings, handles all aspects of discovery, oversees document management, prepares witnesses and updates and involves clients regularly with evolving analysis of facts, claims, defenses, case value and strategies for settlement and/or trial of the action.
In court, Mr. DeBottis handles motions related to various stages of the litigation, conducts hearings, jury and non-jury trials and appellate practice matters arising from his litigations and litigations which were initially handled by others.
